CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND OTHER FACILITIES

1. National Service Scheme (NSS): NSS is a dynamic activity for inculcating the sense of social service and responsibility among students. The college has one unit of NSS, and enrolment is open to all on voluntary basis. To get a NSS certificate the volunteer needs to devote a minimum of 240 hours of service. Participation in seven days camp is also essential for this purpose.

2. National Cadet Corps (NCC): NCC provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities, with a distinct emphasis on social services, discipline and adventure training. With the motto of ‘Unity and discipline’, it brings together the youth hailing from different parts of the country. Enrolment in NCC is open to all regular girl students on a voluntary basis. If the number exceeds, there will be scrutiny by NCC battalion through physical or written examination.

3. Rovers and Rangers: Rovers and Rangers are male and female students aged between 17 to 26. They participate in many social activities. Admission will be based on the ability and commitment.

4. Red-Ribbon Club: The purpose of this club is to create awareness about HIV/AIDS through service, education and philanthropic events. Students are exhorted to join the club to enhance concerted battle against this incurable disease.

5. Parents Teachers Association (PTA): Parents, being one of the important stakeholders in education, have an important advisory role in the functioning of college. Every parent whose ward is studying in the college and teachers of the college are the members of this Association. The Executive Body consists of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and a few members. They are elected by virtue of elections that are held annually. Regular meetings of PTA are held to discuss various issues related to the development and welfare of the college.

6. Career Counselling/ Guidance Cell: Students seeking admission to 1styear of Bachelor’s Degree Course will be routed through career guidance and placement cell. They are guided to choose subjects of their choice, keeping in view their potential and talent in different fields. Seminars are organized between the months of September and December for final year students from all the three streams (Arts, Science and Commerce). These seminars are conducted by the faculty members and they will impart knowledge to students about opportunities in various subjects and streams. Legal literacy seminars are also organized in which information is provided regarding RTI, Consumer Protection Act, Cyber Crimes, Prevention of Domestic Violence against women, free legal aids, right to education, etc. We also plan to organize an entrepreneurship awareness camp for students.

7. Sexual Harassment & Women Grievances Redressal Cell: On the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the college has established a Women Development Cell. The objective of this cell is to address grievances related to gender bias and sexual harassment in relation to female community of the college that comprises teaching and non-teaching staff, and students. Quarterly meeting of the cell is held and reports regarding proceedings and action taken is submitted accordingly to the higher authorities regularly. In the direction of providing equality to female members of the society, the cell plays very significant role.

8. Medical Room: There is a separate medical room for college students and staff members. Some first-aid medicines are readily available.
